Mailbox Breakin - Security Camera Project

Greetings to all homeowners;

Recently one of the mailboxes was vandalized and mail stolen on Valley Greens Circle. The Post Office is aware and has issued memo's to those that have a box within that container.

I mentioned in our community meeting January that one of the projects we would pursue is the research/investigation and installation of security cameras within our HOA district. To this end, I have been discussing the details with Carmel City as they have installed cameras at 5 locations and have learned about their issues and problems in getting this done. Tomorrow, I am meeting a security camera firm coming from San Jose (same supplier to Carmel City) to meet me here and walk the community to determine best locations for cameras, power requirements, cellular details, and monitoring/video recall. At present we are considering using our light poles as possible power sources for 2 cameras - one placed around Lake Place entrance (capture all cars entering from just past the lodge) and a second camera placed just in front of Valley Knoll Road/Condo's (capture all cars entering from Rancho San Carlos). Assuming would be thieves would enter via car, this would catch all vehicles entering our development.

We will have to work with PG&E and perhaps the county to use these light poles as well as pay some fee for power use, but these details will be researched soon. I will keep everyone informed as we get more data. If you have any other suggestions or ideas to improve our security don't hesitate to chime in.

Regards,
